SHIFT TO SHARED MEANING
FIND YOUR WAY BACK TO EACH OTHER WITH THIS FIRST STEP
Therapy for COUPLES
I believe you are here for a reason. You want to find your way back to each other. I am committed to helping you succeed.
Our partners are the one’s who hold us up when we fall. They are there to reassure us in our most vulnerable moments. This is what makes conflict and misunderstanding especially painful when things are not going well with your partner.
Emotionally-focused therapy is an evidence-based practice that is effective in bringing you back to each other. Together let’s explore:
The common ways in which we miss each other’s bids for closeness
The strengths and resiliencies we already have as a couple and how they can be part of the solution
How it really is the way in which we relate that sometimes leaves us feeling disconnected
A clearer, more direct, non-blaming path back to each other
Are you ready to draft a plan back to new intimacy and joy?
HOW THERAPY WORKS
The first step is prioritizing the relationship
We haven’t met but I’m going to guess that you’ve worked really hard to find each other. You’ve experienced the disconnection and isolation that comes from feeling misunderstood by your loved one. The most important thing I know is that you believe strongly enough in your relationship to ask for help from a stranger, and that is a profound step in the direction of hope.
So where do we start? We start with what each of you have learned in childhood about love and relationships and about what you needed to do to retain closeness with those you loved most. In adult relationships, we do what we know, and what we know is shaped very early on in life. We take what we’ve learned and see how some of those things are strengths and others are barriers to creating true intimacy in our relationships now.
